In 2019, The Nature Lovers of Hyderabad (NLH), a citizens’ collective, launched the “Save Banyans of Chevella” on-ground campaign. They organized walks and visits to raise awareness about the banyans, while the NHAI continued to treat the trees as obstacles.

In April 2024, Hyderabad Birding Pals assisted NLH in conducting a scientific bird survey along this route to understand the presence and abundance of resident bird species. The survey, carried out in collaboration with the Nature Lovers of Hyderabad on April 13-14, 2024, revealed a rich diversity of birds along the Moinabad to Maneeguda stretch. Over 96 species were observed, including near-threatened species like the Asian Woolly-necked Stork and Painted Stork.
